At this time I'll be adding a few posts that should've gone out in October. No worries about November. It wasn't too eventful.
October 2nd was the last day for the Renaissance Festival this year. Going to the festival used to be a family tradition of ours.
This was my first time back in several years - probably 3 or 4 years ago.
Nature trail on the way from my parking spot.
Picture-stitch of the village from the outside.
Where's Lil Wayne at?
By the main entrance.
There was a talented musician duo.
These ladies' costumes were on-point!
If you aren't familiar, they're dressed as Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda game series.
The Red Dragon Tavern
They had a band playing music that sounded from the era.
Dragon's Tale might be the name of the band. I didn't catch it. It could also be a decoration since it's the Red Dragon Tavern. Either way, it's a cool banner.
Don't forget to grab a turkey drumstick.
Everybody's really friendly.
The Armory
The little sign at the top says "Shoplifters will be cheerfully dismembered!"
Viking encampment.
I unexpectedly ran into my brother, Devin, and his family while walking around. It was a nice surprise. After walking around and checking a few booths and buildings out, we did a little mead tasting.
Pirate family.
I've read about mead in texts like Beowulf, but it's a lot different than I imagined. I always pictured mead being the ancient equivalent of beer. It's not like that at all. While beer is almost always accompanied by bubbles, foam, and the taste of hops or yeast, the mead poured smoothly without either and tasted sweet. It looked like wine almost, but you could tell upon drinking it that it wasn't much like wine either. Wine is a little thicker, and has a slight bitterness to it. I would've grabbed a bottle if I hadn't already spent a fair bit of money. Something to look forward to next year.
My niece, Hailey.
I let her take a few pictures with my camera.

We caught a little bit of the jousting show.
I wanted to add more to my travel sketchbook, so I figured this would be a good spot. This was my view of the subject.

There was a bagpipe show. At one point they had a couple younger kids get up on the stage and start stepdancing to the music. You can see the video on my Instagram (@d.sohoza) or my Facebook.
The shop on the far right holds the talented work of Ed Beard. He draws and paints a lot of Medieval-fantasy-type pieces that mostly include or center around dragons. Some of his work has been used in the Magic the Gathering card game. He's pretty good at drawing all around. At the time he had a fake pumpkin he was raffling off on his Facebook that had Nosferatu, a werewolf, Frankenstein's monster, and a mummy drawn on it. He doesn't allow photographs in the shop, so you'll have to come next year or check out his website to see his work.
More music in the streets.
Sometimes you get some pretty priceless expressions.
The Farewell Committee
Since Devin and his family were already gone, I didn't have anyone to take a picture of me in my costume. I hadn't thought of it earlier, so I ended up asking someone in a small group that was leaving if they would take my picture really fast. I didn't catch their name, so I can't give them credit, but if you're out there and you're reading this, thanks again.

If you decide to go you might just see me there.
